The MAXI MELT screw profile is born by an innovative approach in the design of the screw and is the result of calculations that allow the definition of compression ratio as a function of the behavior of the polymers
The MAXI MELT screw profile has a conical core instead of a 3 zone design (feeding, compression and metering) The variable pitch starting small in the feeding area and increases towards to the tip assembly and enables the polymer to have a gradual melting without stress for the whole length of the screw. The mixer which is located at the head of the screw ensures the homogenization of the melt. The power this screw require is reduced by about 30% compared to a common 3-zone screw.
This approach generates a homogeneous molten polymer at the desired temperature. The MAXI MELT profile prevents overheating of the polymers during plasticizing and allows a high productivity because we are able to increase the rotation speed of the screw (rpm’s) without overheating the polymer.
